Terms of Use

Last updated: 13 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Physicstan. By creating an account or using the tools on this site, you agree to them.

They are written in plain language on purpose. Nothing here is intended to take away rights you have as a consumer under Italian or EU law, and where anything in these terms conflicts with those rights, your rights win.

Who you are contracting with

Physicstan is operated by Muzammal Amin, a PhD researcher in Physics based in Italy, acting as an individual rather than through a registered company.

Eligibility

You must be at least 14 years old to create an account, which is the age of digital consent in Italy. If you are under 18, we encourage you to tell a parent, guardian or teacher that you are using this.

If you are using Physicstan as part of a course, your school or university’s rules apply to you in addition to these terms.

Your account

You need an account with a verified email address to use the AI. The AP Physics score calculators are free and do not require one.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account. One account is for one person: accounts are not to be shared, sold or transferred. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to yours.

Registering multiple accounts to obtain repeated free credit allowances is not permitted, and automated controls exist to detect it.

Credits

Credits are a unit of access to the service. They are not money, they have no cash value, they cannot be transferred between accounts, and they cannot be exchanged for cash.

How they work:

  • One substantive request to the AI costs one credit
  • A request that fails on our side is not charged
  • Reading, reopening, revealing hints, copying and deleting cost nothing
  • Verified accounts receive an introductory free allowance
  • Paid plans grant credits when each billing period is successfully paid
  • Unused credits accumulate rather than expiring at the end of a period

Current prices and allowances are on the pricing page, and we may change them for future billing periods. Changes do not affect a period you have already paid for.

What you may use Physicstan for

Studying physics: solving problems, learning concepts, checking your own work, and preparing for exams.

What you may not do

  • Break the law, or help anyone else to
  • Submit content that is unlawful, abusive, hateful, or sexually explicit
  • Upload personal information about other people that has nothing to do with a physics question
  • Upload material you have no right to share
  • Attempt to extract, resell or redistribute the service’s output at scale, or use it to build a competing dataset or product
  • Scrape the site, or access it by automated means outside normal use
  • Attempt to circumvent credit limits, rate limits, or free-trial controls
  • Try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service
  • Attempt to manipulate the AI into producing content outside its intended educational purpose

We can suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.

Academic integrity

This matters enough to state directly.

Physicstan is a study tool. It is not a ghostwriting service and it will not pretend to be your homework.

Your institution’s rules govern you, not ours. Every school and university sets its own policy, and those policies differ. Checking your own work, having a concept explained, and being guided toward an answer that you then produce yourself is normally acceptable. Submitting AI-generated work as though it were your own normally is not.

Do not use Physicstan during an examination, test or quiz unless your instructor has explicitly told you that outside tools are permitted. Assume they are not.

You are solely responsible for how you use the output and for complying with your institution’s academic integrity rules. We are not responsible for academic consequences arising from how you choose to use the service.

AI-generated content and its limits

Physicstan produces answers using third-party AI models. Those models make mistakes.

Published research on general-purpose models found accuracy on college physics problems dropping from around 62% on fully specified problems to around 8% on problems requiring an estimate, with failures including incorrect physical models, unreasonable assumptions and plain calculation errors. Our system is designed against those failure modes, including independent server-side re-checking of arithmetic and unit dimensions, but no design eliminates them.

Accordingly:

  • Output is provided for educational purposes and is not guaranteed to be correct.
  • Verify anything that affects a grade against your textbook, your notes or your instructor.
  • An independent check marked as passed confirms arithmetic, not that the physics is right.
  • Physicstan is not professional, engineering, safety or academic advice, and must not be relied upon for any purpose where an error could cause harm or loss.
  • We publish no accuracy percentage, and the reasoning for that is set out on the accuracy and method page.

Your content and ours

You keep ownership of what you submit. Your questions, uploads and attempts remain yours.

By submitting them, you grant us the limited licence needed to run the service: to store them in your account, to transmit them to the AI provider in order to generate an answer, and to display them back to you. Where you report an error, you allow us to review that conversation in order to investigate and improve answer quality.

We do not publish your conversations, and they are not indexed by search engines.

The site itself, its software, structure, written content and design remain ours or our licensors’. You may use answers generated for you for your own study. You may not systematically extract or republish the site’s content.

Availability

Physicstan is run by one person alongside a doctorate. It is provided on an “as available” basis. There is no uptime guarantee, service may be interrupted for maintenance or for reasons outside our control, and third-party AI providers occasionally fail or change.

If the service is unavailable, credits are not consumed by requests that do not complete.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory Italian consumer protection law.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The service is provided without warranties that it will be error-free or that any particular answer will be correct
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost marks, lost academic opportunity, exam outcomes or loss of data
  • Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim

If you use the free tier and have paid nothing, that limit is nil, which is another reason to verify anything that matters.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using Physicstan at any time and close your account by contacting us. Cancelling a subscription is handled through the billing portal and is covered by the refund and cancellation policy.

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, for suspected fraud or abuse, or if required by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change and material changes will be noted. Continuing to use Physicstan afterwards means the updated terms apply. If you do not accept a change, stop using the service and cancel any subscription.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Italian law.

If you are a consumer resident in the EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform for consumers at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Please contact us first. Most problems are quicker to solve directly.
